Top level teaching and research are carried out across a broad spectrum of  technological areas. The Industrial Liaison Department is the technology transfer point at Montanuniversitaet Leoben. Research management, funding advice and professional further education rank alongside the transfer of knowledge and technology as core competencies of MUL. The Industrial Liaison Department acts as an interface between science and commerce; its employees know what businesses require and mediate access to the university's expert knowledge and technical facilities, thereby helping to make existing knowledge and technology accessible to a broad range of applications.

The Department of Polymer Engineering and Science is an internationally acknowledged center for polymers and can look back on more than 40 years of experience and innovation. As an acknowledged partner to industry and commerce the center attaches great value to close cooperation in joint projects with national and international businesses (from small, national service provider projects to international EU projects). In addition to its activities in research and development, Kunststofftechnik Leoben is also an important provider of services in the field of education and training.
The department has six chairs and offers research and education services 
covering fields such as polymer chemistry, material physics and material testing, designing with polymers and polymer processing as well as the practical use of polymer components and recycling, much in keeping with the motto "from base material to finished product".

Role in the project:

Montanuniversitaet Leoben brings more than 40 years experiences in education and research in the field of polymers to the project. Montanuniversität’s main role in the project is concerned with web page design, competence analysis and the resulting competence road map, development and implementation of R&D and network projects, as well as activities relating to education and training.
